About Poseidon Cruises

The Poseidon story began in 1980 with Outer Reef snorkelling and diving in the Port Douglas area and has established a long reputation of providing visitors with outstanding dive and snorkel experiences on the Great Barrier Reef. We have a philosophy of limiting passenger numbers to ensure personalised experiences.

Departing from Port Douglas daily, our 24m custom built catamaran Poseidon has access to over 35 individual reef locations at the Agincourt ribbon reefs – one of the most spectacular and pristine patches of the entire Great Barrier Reef. Each day we select the best reefs for the day’s conditions to ensure your reef adventure is an experience of a lifetime.

Advanced Ecotourism certified since 2002, Poseidon entered Ecotourism Australia’s Hall of Fame in 2022 having been accredited with Advanced Ecotourism for over 20 continuous years.

As one of our nation’s first ecotourism innovators, we’re proud to play our role in the ongoing development responsible and sustainable tourism. This independent certification means that we care’ care about our fragile and beautiful World Heritage environment and the opportunity for visitors to learn, engage and join us in becoming ambassadors for reef protection.

Poseidon joined the Quicksilver Group family in May 2014. As Australia’s most awarded and pioneering Great Barrier Reef cruise company, The Quicksilver Group is dedicated to providing the widest range of quality, eco-friendly reef experiences for visitors from all over the world to appreciate the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.  You can find out more about the Quicksilver Group and its range of Great Barrier Reef experiences here.
